SCHOOLS TO TOOLS & PARENTS
By encouraging our kids to consider all their options–including the skilled construction trades–we are giving them the opportunity to find a career that they are passionate about and that best suits their skills and interests.
College is a great choice for many students, but unfortunately, so many students choose college without understanding that a career in the skilled trades is another great possibility of equal value. In fact, many of our apprentices today first follow the expected path into college, taking on unnecessary debt only to find their true calling in the trades.

“After college I had debt but earned little pay. The apprenticeship has given me financial stability and lets me keep learning new skills with hands-on training.”

TAKE A TRAINING CENTER TOUR
Just like a college campus visit, we routinely open our doors to students, parents, and educators to learn more about our apprenticeship programs and see first-hand the investment our union and signatory contractors are prepared to make in the next generation of carpenters and millwrights. Sign up below to take a Training Center Tour at one of our state of the art facilities in Detroit, Grayling, Negaunee, Saginaw, and Wayland.
Attend a Build MI Future Skills Camp
This six-week camp held at our training centers in Detroit, Negaunee, and Wayland gives students the opportunity to try their hand at basic construction. Students are paid while learning valuable skills, and then put those skills to work building projects that support our community. Sign up for more information!
